Police Impersonator Spotted In Chester County

KENNETT SQUARE (CBS 3) ― Police are searching for a man spotted impersonating an officer in Chester County Thursday morning.

Authorities said a suspect driving a dark blue Ford Crown Victoria pulled over a vehicle on Cypress Street in Kennett Square at about 7:40 a.m.

The 20-year-old female driver of the vehicle told police the suspect's car was equipped with a red dashboard light and possibly a spotlight on the side view mirror.

The suspect approached the driver and asked to see her driver's license. Police said the driver became suspicious of the man and asked to see his badge. It was at that point the unidentified man fled the scene.

Investigators described the suspect as a white male, 40-50-years-old with a heavyset build, graying black hair and a thin beard.

The victim told police she has spotted the suspect following her several times in the past week.

No arrests have been made. The incident remains under investigation.
