Police and FBI are searching for two suspects in connection to an armed robbery at a check cashing store in South Philadelphia Friday morning.
Investigators said the two suspects held up an armored car driver near the entrance of the Whitman Check Cashing store in the 2700 block of S. Randolph Street at about 9:30 a.m.
According to police, one suspect waited inside the store while the second suspect followed the guard inside the store.
"One guard stayed in the truck, one guard is making the delivery inside, as soon as he entered the facility, he was overpowered by one of two subjects, the bag was taken," J.J. Klaver of the FBI said.
Eyewitnesses said the suspects fled on foot before police arrived on the scene.
Surveillance footage taken from a nearby business showed the suspects running with bags, but provided no further clues as to the suspect's identities.
According to police, the brazen armed robbers made off with approximately $700,000 in cash.
Investigators have confirmed that they did find evidence in a nearby alleyway, clothes possibly worn by one of the two suspects.
No injuries were reported and the FBI continues their investigation.
