Philadelphia Film Market Open For Business
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
Philadelphia's film industry is taking a huge step forward in the
business of bringing aspiring filmmakers together with distributors.
The grand opening of the Philadelphia Film Market, running Monday to Sunday, marks the city's jump into the cinematic distribution waters.
While Philadelphia's market will not yet be able to compete with larger groups, like Cannes or the American Film Market, organizers hope local filmmakers will see the benefits.
"It's about giving independent filmmakers the opportunity to get their film in front of the right people to give it the shot it needs," said Philadelphia Film Market CEO Tom Ashley.
The inaugural year of the Film Market coincides with the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival held in Northern Liberties.
