Two students from Pennsauken High School have been arrested and face criminal charges after an alleged "hit list" was found on a school desk Tuesday.
According to a statement posted on the school's Web site by Superintendent James F. Chapman, Ed.D, the list found by a teacher included names of at least one administrator and several students.
The two 11th grade male students allegedly involved in making the list indicate it was "joke."
School officials did not take this as a laughing matter and immediately contacted the Pennsauken Police Department who arrested the students. No weapons were found on the boys or in their lockers and authorities said police also conducted a search of their homes.
According to Web site, the students will have an expulsion hearing before the Pennsauken Board of Education.
"We are proud of the safe learning environments we have created in our schools and any students who participate in such acts will face serious consequences," states Chapman.
