Man Takes Aim On Del. Police With Fake Gun
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) ―
New Castle County police say a 30-year-old man pointed a replica handgun at two police officers.
Police say officers responded to a report of a group of men drinking alcohol and breaking bottles in the 500 block of Homestead Road on Sunday night.
Cpl. Trinidad Navarro says most of the men went inside when officers approached, but one man pulled what appeared to be a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at two officers.
One officer grabbed the weapon and pushed the man to the ground.
Police later determined the weapon was a replica of a 9 mm handgun.
Tomas Cruz-Carrera is charged with carrying a concealed dangerous instrument, aggravated menacing and disorderly conduct. Police say Cruz-Carrera is an undocumented immigrant from Guatemala and faces possible deportation.
