Students at Moorestown High School are mourning the loss of another member of the Class of 2008 who died Tuesday after being struck by a car.
Authorities say William Christianson, 17, was riding his bike on East Camden Avenue at about 5 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a passing vehicle driven by an 89-year-old woman.
Christianson was not wearing a helmet and suffered serious head injuries. He was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey and passed away Tuesday afternoon.
"He was wonderful gift to us, we are so sad," said Will's father, Allen. "We do not know the lady who hit Will, but we forgive her."
Christianson graduated with honors from Moorestown High School only three weeks ago and was preparing for his freshman year at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
News of Christianson's death was a tragic blow to the community that is still mourning the deaths of Moorestown H.S. seniors Evan Welch and Erick Messick. Welch, 18, and Messick, 17, died a week apart in separate car accidents in December, 2007.
Police say no charges have been filed in Christianson's death. His family, who was preparing to celebrate his 18th birthday this Saturday, is now working on funeral arrangements which at this time, are still pending.
