Suspect Arrested In Port Richmond Double Shooting
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
Philadelphia police have arrested a 21-year-old suspect in a double shooting in the city's Port Richmond section that left a toddler and her grandmother wounded.
Police say the suspect was charged early Thursday morning in the shooting that wounded a 2-year-old girl and her 38-year-old grandmother.
Police say the suspect was walking down the street near Tulip and Anne Streets when a vehicle allegedly cut him off. The suspect reportedly became enraged and pulled out a gun and fired numerous shots at the vehicle.
The toddler and her grandmother were apparently coming home from the hospital after visiting the toddler's mother who just gave birth on Wednesday when they were caught in the crossfire.
According to police, the child was shot twice in the thigh and her grandmother was shot twice in the foot. The toddler is in critical, but stable condition at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. The grandmother is in stable condition at Temple University Hospital.
Police credit a tip from a member of the public that helped lead to the arrest.
