Students at a Montgomery County middle school took part in a performance honoring a little known chapter of the Holocaust.
Audiences at Saligman Middle School were treated to a production of the little-known musical "Brundibar," a children's opera originally performed by prisoners at a Nazi concentration camp in 1943.
Students at the Elkins Park School took part in an English-language version of the play Sunday.
Young performers say the story's villain, a thinly veiled version of Adolf Hitler, is used to teach a moral lesson.
"The very last song, 'Tyrants come along, you just wait and see they'll topple one, two, three," said Leah Schatz, who plays "The Cat."
An original cast member, Holocaust survivor Ela Weissberger, attended Sunday's performance.
