Gun Allegedly Sold At Burlington Co. School
MEDFORD, N.J. (CBS 3) ―
Students at a Burlington County school were greeted by an increased police presence Thursday after the discovery of an alleged gun sale on campus.
Medford Police were called to the Burlington County Institute of Technology after classes dismissed Wednesday following rumors a student was going to bring a gun to school.
Investigators determined a 16-year-old student from Browns Mill had purchased a starter pistol from a 17-year-old student on Tuesday. The gun was apparently given to another teen who subsequently dumped the firearm into a Pemberton Township lake.
Authorities discovered the gun in two feet of water. They quickly discovered the firearm would only fire blanks, as its barrel was plugged. The student told police he bought the gun for target practice and never intended to harm anyone.
All students involved are now in their parents' custody pending charges.
