Suspects Charged In Delaware Copper Thefts

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) ― Delaware State Police say three men are being charged with stealing about $9,000 in copper wire from a contractor working at a school near Delaware City, and from the school.

Delaware State Police say 38-year-old Gary Good of Newark worked for the contractor at Gunning Bedford Middle School. Authorities say he supplied information about spools of copper wire at the school, and at his contractor's office, to 27-year-old Geoffrey Schandel of Newark and 21-year-old Josh Liebal of Bear. Police say Schandel and Liebal would steal the wire.

The thefts happened spanned three months.

Police arrested Liebal and Schandel June 29 when they were caught allegedly stealing wire from the school about 1 a.m.

Good was arrested Tuesday after police linked him to the scheme.
