University City Fire Turns Fatal

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A house fire in the University City section of Philadelphia claimed the life of one person Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to 39th Street and Powelton Avenue after reports of the blaze at about 4:30 a.m.

An unresponsive 58-year-old woman was reportedly transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she was later pronounced dead.

It is unclear if there were any additional injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
