A Montgomery County man was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of a Wissahickon honors student in 2007.
Mark O'Donnell, 48, was convicted of first degree murder last June after the December 2007 murder of 14-year-old Ebony Dorsey.
Montgomery County Judge William Furber also added a consecutive 11 to 22 years to the 49-year-old man's life sentence Thursday for his conviction on rape and abuse of corpse charges.
Authorities said O'Donnell had been smoking crack with Dorsey's mother, Danielle Cattie, while the teen was at his apartment, babysitting his 4-year-old daughter.
When O'Donnell returned home, he sexually assaulted the teen before beating and strangling her to death. He then put Dorsey's body in a plastic storage container and hid it the woods of Blue Bell, Pa.
Police discovered the body of the teen several days later.
O'Donnell was placed on suicide watch after attempting to cut his wrists shortly after his conviction.
