Selling Your Stuff Online
HORSHAM, Pa. (CBS 3) ―
A
Montgomery County woman is using other people's stuff to make a fortune on the internet.
When Linda Lightman started selling her sons old video games on E-bay she never dreamed it would turn into a multi million dollar business.
"It just grew and grew. I did it for some friends and now eight years later we have 20 employees and my husband and I run this full time," Lightman said.
Her eBay store is called "Linda's stuff" and this year has sold close to $4 million worth of merchandise. She and her husband were lawyers but found this more profitable. The business grew just buy word of mouth. Linda said she has never advertised. The merchandise from fashion to home goods is all high-end.
With every sale under $1,000, Linda's Stuff keeps 30 percent and over $1,000 they keep 20 percent.
"We moved to this space about a month ago. But before that, all of this was in my house. And it consumes every minute of my house. I wake up and I am living and breathing eBay."
It's a business where everyone wins.
"We don't charge an eBay fees, it's a great deal. And, I have clients who get checks for $8,000, $5,000, just by selling stuff."
Proving one person's trash is another's treasure. Linda can be reached at 1-866-68-LINDA or visit her on line at www.shoplindasstuff.com.
