Father Critical After West Phila. Double Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A father is in critical condition after a double shooting in West Philadelphia late Thursday night.

Police said the victim intervened as a suspect made advances towards his teenage daughter near 60th and Chestnut Streets at about 11:15 p.m.

The suspect removed a weapon and opened fire, striking the father several times and injuring the teenage girl, police said.

The father was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he remains in critical condition after undergoing emergency surgery. His daughter was treated and released for a graze wound.

The suspect was apprehended a short distance away from the scene.
