Dogs, Drugs, Guns Found In Philadelphia Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Over a half dozen dogs were found chained outside a Philadelphia home packed with drugs and guns.

Pennsylvania SCPA officers were responding to reports of animal cruelty at a vacant home in the 5500 block of Morton Street when they made the bizarre discovery.

Officials said seven dogs, six pit bulls and one Rottweiler, were found tied to car axles with massive industrial chains.

"I can't begin to imagine how those dogs were able to keep themselves upright with those chains. To keep a dog in those conditions is beyond cruel," said PSCPA Director of Investigations George Bengal.

Inside the home, officers discovered dog fighting paraphernalia, a loaded rife, marijuana plants and crack cocaine.

The PSPCA removed the animals while Philadelphia Police investigated the scene.

Officials said some of the dogs were incredibly aggressive as one tore through the wire caging in a PSPCA truck.

"We carry many, many animals in these vehicles and I have never seen one strong enough to actually pull off the wire slats and this dog did," said George Bengal of the PSPCA.

One dog has since been put down and the others are being evaluated for adoption.

Police said they are searching for at least one suspect in connection to the crime.
