Boaters Go Missing On The Delaware River

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― After hours of searching, authorities from two states called off the search for two boaters who went missing after their boat capsized in the Delaware River Monday evening.

U.S. Coast Guard officials said they received reports a small boat sank near the Commodore Barry Bridge just after 6:30 p.m.

Two boaters on board apparently attempted to swim to the New Jersey side of the river, but disappeared in the waters.

A Coast Guard helicopter and rescue boat crews were joined by the Pennsylvania Fish and Wildlife and New Jersey State Police in the search.

Efforts were called off around midnight after crews found no sign of the boat or debris.
