Sisters Killed By Accidental Carbon Monoxide

RIDLEY PARK (CBS 3) ― The Delaware County District Attorney's office said two elderly women are dead after a tragic accident involving carbon monoxide Monday.

Police were called after reports of a strong odor coming from a home on the 500 block of Mtchell Street in Ridley Park at about 11 a.m.

Authorities said 87-year-old Helen Pompo and her sister Cecilia Passarelli, 85, were found unconscious inside the home. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Fire Department officials said high levels of carbon monoxide were found throughout the home. Police said the car was left running inside the garage, filling the home with the colorless, odorless gas.

Investigators said the incident appears to be accidental.
