Rare Piece Of Protest History On Display

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― An incredible piece of American history is currently on display at Philadelphia's National Constitution Center.

The Robinson Tea Chest was tossed into the Boston Harbor during the infamous Boston Tea Party in 1773.

The chest was named after John Robinson, who retrieved the wooden box from the harbor after the famed protest of the British tax on tea.

Of the 342 chests thrown into the frigid waters by colonists that day, only two are believed to remain.

The occasion marks only the second time the chest has been displayed to the public. It was unveiled in Philadelphia Tuesday, the 235th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.
