Eagles Pep Band Member Walking For The Troops

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A member of the Philadelphia Eagles Pep Band is embarking on a walk to the Jersey Shore from CBS 3's studio in honor of an area soldier killed in Iraq.

Bobby Mansure set out on a 90 mile journey from Philadelphia to Avalon Thursday morning in honor of the men and women currently serving overseas this Memorial Day.

As of Friday morning, Mansure said he expected to reach the end of his journey sometime Saturday evening. During his travels, he said many have shown their gratitude and support for the troops.

For the second year in a row, Mansure is walking for the memory of 21-year-old Lance Corporal Adam Conboy of Roxborough, who was killed while serving overseas in May 2006.

The walk will also benefit "Operation Bedding," a fund set up by Conboy's mother to provide troops overseas with the basic necessities that many take for granted, like socks, food and sheets.
