Teens Killed In Lancaster Co. Collision

MANHEIM, Pa. (AP) ―

Police say a car driven by a 17-year-old went out of control on a wet road in Lancaster County and struck oncoming minivan, killing two teenage passengers.

Officials say the victims were students at Conrad Weiser High School in Berks County. The school is closed for spring break but counselors were on hand Thursday for students or others who wanted their help. Counselors will also be available when the school opens on Monday.

The accident happened on Route 772 about 10 miles northwest of Lancaster. The Lancaster County coroner's office says 17-year-old Melissa Edwards of Womelsdorf and 18-year-old Garrett Gammel of Robesonia died of multiple injuries.

Two other passengers, 17 and 18, were injured, and the 17-year-old driver had minor injuries. The minivan driver wasn't injured.
