Shots Fired Inside Willingboro Papa John's

WILLINGBORO, N.J. (CBS 3) ― Police in South Jersey are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting inside a Papa John's and its possible relation to a bank robbery on Friday.

A bank in Willingboro was robbed a short time after the shooting and investigators are attempting to determine if the two are related.

According to police, a suspect walked into the Papa John's in the 600 block of John F. Kennedy Way and fired several shots at about 1 p.m. The suspect fled on foot and no one was injured.

Police said only about 20 minutes later, two armed suspects robbed the Beneficial Bank located at Rose Street and Beverly-Rancocas Road.

The two suspects fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. No one was injured during the bank heist.

Investigators are not commenting on whether the shooting at the Papa John's may have been set up as a distraction for the bank robbery.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call the Willingboro police department at 609-877-3001.
