Young Father Gunned Down In Yeadon

YEADON, Pa. (CBS 3) ―

Raven Leigertwood is trying to understand what led to the death of her 31-year-old husband Veno in the early morning hours of September 13.

"I have a very hard time believing he's not here, right now. I feel very alone. I feel very scared," she said.

Veno was shot once the neck outside the family's Church Lane home in Yeadon at 6:30 a.m. He was apparently loading his computer and some audio visual equipment into a car before heading to a MBA class at Eastern University in Radnor.

While his back was turned, Yeadon police said two young men, each wearing a hooded sweatshirt, fired two shots. One struck Leigertwood in the neck, killing him instantly.

"My husband was a very good man, he was very good to his family, his friends to his co workers. He's not the type of person to hurt anybody. He loved his daughter very much," Raven said.

Veno graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. He refurbished investment properties and counseled teenagers at Bartram High School -- helping them prepare for college. He is survived by his wife and a seven month old daughter, Nicole.

Through her tears, Raven pleaded for the public's help saying, "Please, please, if you saw anything, if you heard anything, if you know anything please. You don't have to tell them who you are. Just please call the police."

The killers, who witnesses say ran from the scene, are described as small built black males with dark complexions and close cropped hair. One wore a black hoodie with dark jeans while second suspect was seen in a white hoodie and dark colored pants.

"And if the person who is watching this would please just turn himself in. I'm hoping that we can get peace and understanding as to why this happened. We are very forgiving people but we just need to know what happened to him," Raven said.

The Citizen's Crime Commission is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. If you have any information in this incident, call 215-546-TIPS.
