Larger-Than-Life Characters Invade Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― The oldest Thanksgiving Day parade in the nation stepped off in Philadelphia at 8:15 a.m. at 20th and Market Streets.

Dating back to 1910, the Thanksgiving Day tradition is the oldest of its kind in the country.

The Ikea Thanksgiving Day Parade hosted by TV chef Rachel Ray, included more than 7,000 participants, 19 school marching bands, 15 floats and 14 helium balloons.

The procession made its way along the Ben Franklin Parkway and continue to the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art where Santa himself arrived to ring in the Holiday season.
