Suspect Arrested In Alleged Rape Of Local Teen
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
Police arrested a suspect in the alleged abduction and rape
of a 16-year-old girl found wandering the streets of Northeast
Philadelphia.
Jason Johnson was arrested Friday night in connection with
the alleged rape and has been into trouble with the law before.
CBS 3's Walt Hunter reported that Johnson was arrested in
2002 for a similar sexual assault and violent attack.
The 2002 assault was similar and took place at 16th
and Huntingdon in North Philadelphia. Johnson was found
not guilty of rape and charged with assault leading to Johnson eventually being
set free.
Johnson's previous arrest was and integral part in the
police department's investigation.
The teen told police she was abducted in the 1300 block of E.
Orthodox Street while walking to school early Thursday
morning.
Police the suspect, reportedly armed with a gun, forced the teen to walk a
couple blocks to his home in the 1600 block of Orthodox
Street.
Inside the home, police said the man sexually assaulted the teen, choked her
until she was unconscious, and assaulted her a second time.
The man then forced the teen into a car, slashed her throat, and drove to a
nearby park.
The teen somehow managed to escape her captor and ran for help.
Authorities said a passerby noticed the teen walking alone on Frankford and
Cheltenham Streets at about 9 p.m.
Thursday.
The passerby took the teen to St. Christopher's Hospital, where she is
reportedly recovering.
Johnson's bail is set a 2.5 million and his preliminary hearing is set for
January 15th.
