Briarcliffe Swim Club held its second annual "Laps for
Life" swim-a-thon to raise money to fight cancer on Sunday.
The event, which was held in loving memory of Craig Nelson, a dear
friend and swim coach to many at the Briarcliffe, aimed to raise $9 thousand.
This is the second year of the event, last years swim-a-thon
raised nearly $7 thousand for Lance Armstrong's LiveStrong Foundation.
Craig Nelson passed away after a tragic and courageous seven
month fight with esophageal cancer at age 28, in October 2006. Craig is a
graduate of Monsignor Bonner in the top 10 in his class with honors, he then
went on to receive a B.S. in International Relations from Upenn.
