Phila. Officer Pinned Between Cars By Suspect

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A suspect is in custody after reportedly pinning a Philadelphia police officer between two cars Tuesday evening.

The incident happened at about 8:00 p.m. in the 2600 block of Gerritt Street in South Philadelphia.

According to police, the incident began when the suspect ran a stop sign. The officer got out of his car and tried to stop the suspect's vehicle.

The suspect then reportedly pinned the officer between his car and the police cruiser. The officer fired one shot at the suspect and responding officers fired two shots at the suspect. The suspect was not hit by any of the fired shots.

The suspect was taken into custody without any further incident.

The officer suffered a hip injury, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The incident remains under investigation.
