Shots Fired Outside North Philly Elementary School

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Police are searching for a suspect in a shooting outside a school in North Philadelphia Monday afternoon.

The shots were fired at about 3 p.m. outside of the Harrison Elementary School in the 1300 block of Lafayette Place.

Police said no students or staff members were injured in the shooting. The school was briefly locked down following the shooting.

"Guys ran past me and the bullets flew past my head," said eyewitness Darnell Bloom.

Police said a stray bullet struck a house on Thompson Street near the school.

Police closed off the block as they canvassed the area looking for clues.

One suspect is in police custody, but investigators believe a second suspect was also involved.

The shooting remains under police investigation.
