A Delaware County school is on alert after more than 70 students called in sick Monday.
Officials with the Radnor School District said more than 70 students at Ithan Elementary School were absent from school with flu-like symptoms. Officials said many of the students had a fever along with a cough or sore throat.
The district is performing additional sanitation measures, including wiping down restroom fixtures, stairway railings, classroom desktops, door knobs and light switches, and disinfecting surfaces.
District officials are urging parents to keep their children at home if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms. The symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headaches, chills, fatigue and possible diarrhea and vomiting, officials said.
District officials said they have been advised by the Department of Health that there is no surge of flu in Delaware County, and they are taking extra precaution to keep the schools healthy.
