Teen Drowns In Sicklerville Quarry

SICKLERVILLE, N.J. (CBS 3) ― A teen drowned while swimming in a Camden County quarry Friday evening.

The quarry is located in Sicklerville near Sicklerville Road and Cross Keys Road.

According to police, the teen, identified as 14-year-old Haja Koroma, went underwater while swimming with some family and friends at about 6:30 p.m.

After nearly four hours of intense searching, divers recovered the teen's body shortly after 10:00 p.m.

Family and friends gathered at the scene and were completely devastated by the tragic news.

"Her mom, she was running up the street screaming, 'where's my baby?' and then she fainted," neighbor Joe Makovec said.

The victim had just graduated from Ann Mullen Middle School in Sicklerville and was about to attend Timber Creek High School.
