Man Wanted In Assault On Officers

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) ― Philadelphia Police have released a photo of a man accused of assaulting police officers who is considered armed and dangerous.

Investigators say a man, identified as Daniel Giddings, was stopped by Philadelphia Highway Patrol Officers Wednesday at about 1 p.m. after patrolmen observed him commit a traffic violation in the 2300 block of Seybert Street in the city's Strawberry Mansion section.

They pulled Giddings over and as the patrolmen approached the late-model Dodge he was driving, Giddings sped off, and the pursuit began.

Giddings jumped out of the car in the 2200 block of West Jefferson Street and led police on a foot chase into a home in the 1500 block of North 23rd Street. Inside that house, Giddings allegedly fought with four police officers, then managed to get away. Two of the four officers required hospital treatment for injuries to their back, neck and arms.

Police say Giddings, who also goes by the first name Da'Neal, is medium brown complexion, about 6'1" tall, and weighs about 140 pounds. He is very muscular, with numerous tattoos. One on his left arm reads "RIP MACK", another on his right arm with the name "Theresa."

Giddings was last seen in the area of 23rd and Jefferson Streets. He has also been reportedly seen around 25th & Cecil B. Moore Avenue, the 4700 block of Griscom Street, the 1100 block of North 66th Street, and the 5500 block of Chew Avenue.

Police warn that Giddings should be considered extremely dangerous and has been known to carry firearms. Anyone with information on Giddings' whereabouts is asked to contact Central Detectives Division at 215-686-3047, or 215-686-3093.
