Philadelphia Magazine: Looking For Love

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―

Looking for love? You are not alone! According to Philadelphia Magazine there are 650,000 single people in the City of Brotherly Love.  CBS 3's Ukee Washington introduces you to two of the town's most eligible singles.

Carlos Melendez is a single dad, a chef and a restaurant owner.  Katelyn Prominski is a ballerina with the Pennsylvania Ballet.

They are two of the city's most eligible singles according to the November issue of Philadelphia Magazine.  Inside the cover story readers will meet 24 sexy singles.

"I've been in the dating scene on and off for quite a while," said Carlos.

As the owner of Coyote Crossing Restaurant in Conshohocken, Carlos says he meets a quite a few people but it's not that easy to meet the right person.

"The real trick is to find someone that you have not only the physical attraction you have chemistry," Carlos said. "At the end of the day we all want to love someone and be loved by someone and to share a great life with someone who is speical to me."

Katelyn has danced on stages around the world. Despite that exposure she's solo.

"You know when you're on stage, you're like a movie, you're unattainable," Katelyn said, "People don't see you as a normal person."

The ballerina admits she's feeling pressure these days.

"A lot of my friends are getting married, it's scary to think you could end up being thirty or thirty-five and feel like everybody is gone," said Katelyn.

Philadelphia Magazine writer and single gal Christy Speer co-edited the cover story. She explains why the sexy singles made the cover.

"Everybody has a lot on their mind right now, the economy is not in the best place, so we wanted something everyone could relate to and be sort of happy about," said Christy.

So she threw herself into the story by going on 15 dates in one month, all arranged through Matchmakers, Match.com and speed dating!

"It was exhausting and emotionally draining," said Christy.

She didn't find love but Christy says she had some fun dates.

So what is a perfect date for Carlos and Katelyn?

"My perfect date is wonderful conversation with a man, wonderful food, a great bottle of wine," said Katelyn.

And for Carlos, "A good bottle of wine, great conversation, a very good meal, that would be the perfect date for me."
