Ultimate Fan Experience At The Wachovia Center
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
The Wachovia Center's got its game on for the 2008-2009 season! Flyers fans are about to get the ultimate interactive experience with two new iWalls. Each is 24 feet long. CBS3's Stephanie Abrams demonstrated how they work.
She said, "You can learn all about your favorite Flyers present and past just by moving the handheld monitor along the wall."
Each time the monitor stops, different images and video is displayed of different events in Flyers history.
In the video of our story, you get your first look at the technology expected to headline Saturday's home opener.
Frank Nave, with Lynch Exhibits based out of New Jersey says what's unique about the iWall is that "When you feel it and touch it and bring it to a place of your interest, it becomes personal."
The Wachovia Center also has 3,200 square feet covered in new LED screens that you can now text to.
Of course the workers in the control room control the conversation. As a fan, if you see a question on the score board, just text the correct answer and you could score a prize!
The suites have also been upgraded with new LCD's and new computers. And, there's a new online ticketing system that allows you to use your ticket as a debit card.
Just add an extra $10 or $20 dollars to your ticket that you buy on the internet, and then you can leave your wallet at home.
Fans we spoke with love the idea of loaded tickets.
One woman said, "I don't want to have to carry a purse, good idea!"
Another fan said he likes it because "You've got your ticket, you've got your money."
Holt's Cigar Club is also getting an upgrade. It'll be transformed into Philly Park, where you'll be able to watch horse races on the LCD screens and place your bet at interactive kiosks!
Eric Nemeth with Comcast-Spectacor says, "It's about the fan experience and giving them that access to everything they need and having it at their fingertips."
Over $2 million dollars in upgrades keeping The Wachovia Center on the cutting edge, with technology, like the iWall, never before seen in a sports arena.
