Philly Police Use New Tool In Fight Against Crime

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Police officers plan to use a new tool in the fight against Philadelphia's crime.

Four Segways arrived at Police Headquarters in Center City Thursday.

Training on the new devices began Friday for officers who will patrol South Street, Main Street in Manayunk, Southwest Philadelphia, and various other spots for a 10-day trial.

Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey hopes to strengthen community policing and reduce violent crime and believes the scooter test will help implement those initiatives.
