Philadelphia Is The Soul Of 'Cold Case'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―

The season six premiere of the CBS hit drama "Cold Case" debuted on CBS 3 tonight. Fans of the show know that "Cold Case" is set here in Philadelphia, but as the cast and crew told our very own Ukee Washington, Philly is the soul of the show.

Every Sunday night the stars of Cold Case unravel the mysteries of unsolved crimes with the city of brotherly love and sisterly affection as their backdrop.

"I really really consider philly my second home," said Cold Case's John Finn.

They invited us into their world as the cast taped scenes from this season on location in South Philly and Old City.

"I feel like in Philadelphia, there's a gage of truthfulness and if you're not real … I think people read that and I don't think they're afraid to call you out," said Danny Pino who plays Scotty Valens on the show.

And real life Philadelphia homicide detective Tim Bass is helping show producers keep it real.

During the concept of the show, the writers will call me and ask me questions about how their investigations are done. They come up with the ideas for the murders and then they ask me how I'd conduct the investigation," said Bass.

Show producers have used Bass as an advisor since the series began - in charge of not just what the characters do, but how they speak "Philadelphia".

"As far as pronunciation, like Fairmount - they're always calling it Fairmont - they cannot say Schuylkill - for some reason they can't say Schuylkill," Bass told us.

Diction aside - there's always time for a cheese steak at Genos, even for this Baltimore native.

"In Baltimore, we have no problem saying that Philly is the cheese steak capital of the world. we have a very inferior version of it, but we try," said Tracie Thoms.

Keep trying..Trace. And I'll tell ya what  there's nothing like a "whiz wit". ..and if your hungry for a meaty crime drama. Cold Case continues to bring it to the table and then some.

"Also a city of brotherly love welcoming us with open arms and carrying us through with the cheese steak, the love, the support - we love you guys ... well we love you back!," said Kathryn Morris.

The cast also dished about what fans can expect this season.
