Ocean City Holds Memorial Day Services

OCEAN CITY, N.J. (CBS 3) ― Memorial Day in Ocean City is not just about the sun and fun, it is about remembering those who gave their lives for our county so that, "we can live free."

The city's annual Memorial Day service kicked off 9:15 a.m. on the 9th Street Beach where lifeguards rowed a short distance off the beach to lay a wreath in the ocean honoring fallen soldiers.

The solemn ceremony was followed by a service at the Veterans Memorial at 6th Street and Wesley Avenue. Senator Jeff Van Drew was the keynote speaker.
