Pennsylvania National Guard Celebrates Legacy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― The Pennsylvania National Guard is celebrating the anniversary of its founding.

A ceremony was held at Ben Franklin's Grave Site in Old City Sunday afternoon. In 1747, Franklin started a group that officially became the National Guard on November 21, 1947.

Governor Ed Rendell was on hand for the celebration and pointed out important deployments the Guard has plated in snow storms, floods and hurricanes.
