Movie-Goers Targeted By Thieves In Upper Darby
UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS 3) ―
Police in Delaware County are searching for some movie theater thieves who made off with cash and credit cards.
Laura Watts and her sister went to see a movie at the AMC theater in Chadds Ford earlier this month and became a victim of crime.
"We sat down, I put my pocketbook on the floor," Watts said.
Police said the suspect stole $100 and two credit cards from Watts and went on a shopping spree. The suspect racked up $1,300 in purchases in a matter of hours in Upper Darby Township.
"Here's a woman who is out enjoying herself at a movie theater like we all do, and these bums steal, rob, pillage," Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said.
Chitwood is warning all movie-goers to be on the lookout for these types of thieves.
"People have to be more aware of their surroundings, they have to be more aware of their personal property," Chitwood said.
The suspect was captured on surveillance camera at various locations. If you have any information, you are urged to contact Upper Darby police at
(610) 734-7684 EXT. 224.
