"Super-Size" Fallout From Hatboro-Horsham Assembly

HATBORO, PA (KYW 1060) ― Officials in the Hatboro Horsham school district in Montgomery County are still dealing with the fallout from Friday's assembly featuring filmmaker Morgan Spurlock.

Spurlock is best known for eating nothing but McDonald's for thirty days to make his Oscar-nominated documentary "Super Size Me." But he delivered a profanity-laced, politically-incorrect speech to several hundred students.

He poked fun at minorities who work at McDonald's and joked about special needs people who work there. There were special education kids in the auditorium.

District superintendent Dr. Bill Lessa says it just wasn't appropriate:

"I think for our kids whatever wrinkle in the fabric it created, life will move on pretty quickly. This is hardly trauma or major drama. It was just one of those moments."

Administrators will speak to students about the incident Monday.

Spurlock's scheduled speech to the community was abruptly cancelled Friday after the school assembly.
