Montgomery Co. Domestic Abuse Victim Honored
WAYNE, Pa. (CBS 3) ―
Gary Gregory remembers the night his sister Ellen was killed; on Friday he spoke at a vigil to honor her tragic death.
Ellen Robb was bludgeoned to death in her home as she wrapped Christmas presents. Her husband, former Penn professor Rafael Robb, pled guilty to the murder saying he just "lost it."
The marriage was allegedly abusive and Ellen was just days away from taking the couple's then 12-year-old daughter and leaving.
"We realized the pitfalls that occurred within Ellen's pathway out, and when her skies had opened, they opened literally hours too late," said Gregory.
Since Ellen's untimely death, her brother has started the "Every Great Reason Foundation."
It is a fundraising organization designed to support those caught in the web of domestic violence.
At the school Ellen's daughter attended two years ago, the foundation established a memorial gazebo and garden in Ellen's honor.
"The more we can create awareness, the more we can have people recognize the signs and symptoms to help others in need," said Gregory.
The memorial is set up to honor her legacy as a dedicated mother and not to mark the day of her tragic death.
"It is time to turn these tragedies into triumphs," stressed Gregory.
On Monday, Rafeal Robb will be sentenced in Montgomery County.
