Child Struck, Killed By Tractor Trailer In Mayfair

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A child riding a bike was struck and killed by a tractor trailer in Northeast Philadelphia Monday afternoon.

The accident happened at about 4 p.m. on Cottman Avenue near Cottage Street in the city's Mayfair section.

According to the police, the victim was rushed to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, but was later pronounced dead.

The exact details of the fatal accident were not immediately available. The driver of the tractor trailer did stop at the scene.

The tragic accident remains under police investigation.
