Victim Describes Encounter With Alleged Cop Killer
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
A man who was robbed in the past by a suspect in the murder of a Philadelphia police officer says he is still shaken by the crime.
Levon Warner is in police custody and he is one of three men accused in the deadly shooting of Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski early Saturday morning.
"His partner at the time had a gun on me from the street-side, pointed at my head, and he (Warner) was on the curb-side blocking my way to get out of the way, I gave him whatever money I had, I gave him the phone and then he hit me," said the victim who asked not to be identified.
Warner, 38, of Philadelphia, has a rap sheet of violent crime arrests and convictions dating back to the 1980s. Warner also had a professional heavyweight boxing career.
"He coldcocked me pretty good," said the victim.
In 1997, Warner was sentenced to 7-15 years in prison for the crime. However, he was released almost a year ago.
"What if he was still in prison, would that incident that happened Saturday would have happened, you don't know," wondered the victim.
Warner has been charged with murder, robbery, conspiracy and related offenses.
