Jewelry Store Owner Charged In Hidden Camera Case

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A jewelry store owner accused of planting a camera in his store's bathroom has been formally charged.

On Thursday, Philadelphia Police charged Ben Sorkin with three counts of Invasion of Privacy and one count of Possessing Instrument of Crime.

Last April, three former employees, all female, told police they discovered hidden cameras in the ladies room of Sorkin's store on Philadelphia's Jewelers' Row.

The women said they became suspicious after noticing Sorkin pushing a button near a counter when one of them went in the bathroom. Authorities are in possession of alleged videotapes of the women using the store's bathroom.

Investigators also found a similar camera system in Sorkin's Northeast Philadelphia home during a search, but no charges were filed in that discovery.
