With the rising coast of gas, tourism officials believe the Jersey Shore
will be a hot vacation spot this summer for Delaware Valley
residents.
Tourism officials say the shore is popular choice because it's
within one tank of gas for as many as 73 million people.
The shore is already bustling with activity early into the
summer season and the numbers don't lie.
Traffic on the Atlantic City Expressway is up 25 percent from last year and in Stone
Harbor, rentals are up at
least 10 percent.
"It's closer, the distance isn't too far," said Maryann
Schryer-Salazin, who was visiting Atlantic City
from Montreal, Canada.
Maryann and her husband were visiting the shore for their wedding
anniversary, but it was their second option. They had originally planned to go
to California, but knew a trip to the Jersey shore would be much cheaper.
This summer could be a profitable one down the shore if the
price of travel continues to rise.
