Repairs To Begin On I-95 Column

More repairs are about to begin on the part of Interstate 95 in Philadelphia that was shut down for emergency repairs last week.

But the work that starts Thursday afternoon shouldn't disrupt traffic on the major traffic corridor.

Last week's emergency repair was to put in a temporary steel structure to take the load off a crumbling concrete column supporting the elevated highway. This new repair is to replace the concrete column and remove the steel structure. It's expected to last six weeks.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says the emergency repair and the permanent fix together should cost about $650,000.
