Arrests Made In Fight Outside Del. High School

Suspect Still At Large In Separate Shooting

NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS 3) ― As police continue to search for a suspect in connection to a shooting outside a Delaware high school, two teenagers have been arrested in connection to a fight outside the same school that injured a trooper.

Siara Wynn, 18, of New Castle and 18-year-old Jasmine Holloway of Bear surrendered to troopers on Friday. Each was charged with second-degree assault on a police officer and other offenses. They were each released on $7,500 bond.

Authorities said several students at William Penn High School in New Castle were involved in a brawl in the parking lot at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

The altercation allegedly began when one student kissed the boyfriend of another student following a basketball game. Harsh words soon led to thrown punches.

A State Trooper who attempted to intervene was shoved to ground by several students and suffered a fractured shoulder.

The injured Trooper called for backup and several officers arrived at the scene to assist in crowd control.

As the scene was clearing, police said a gunshot rang out and a nearby 18-year-old male was struck once in the back.

The injured teen was rushed to Christiana Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. According to police, the teen is a junior at William Penn.

Investigators do not believe the brawl and shooting were related. Police said they have gotten very little information from witnesses at the scene. No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.

Additional officers was on hand at the school Friday. If you have any information, please call 1-800-TIP-3333.
