$2.6M Of Heroin Seized, 3 Arrested In Frankford

PHILADELPHIA (CBS3/AP) ― Philadelphia police have seized $2.6 million worth of heroin and arrested three men on drug charges.

Authorities say they had been responding to a report of a burglary in progress in the city's Frankford section Wednesday night. Police say they saw three men run out a back door with a large box.

Police say they turned up nearly 8,000 grams of heroin. They also seized more than 200 grams of crack cocaine, a loaded handgun and a BB gun.

Police say 23-year-old Edwin Melendez, 26-year-old Luis Alvarado and 23-year-old Pablo Marajo are charged with narcotics offenses.

The three face charges of possession with the intent to deliver and other counts.

"They got additional weapons, they got narcotics packaging, and a money counting machine inside the residence," Captain Frank Bachmayer said.

Police say it was Marajo's house.
