Teen Injured In East Mount Airy Overhang Collapse

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A teenage girl was injured after the roof of an East Mount Airy daycare center partially collapsed Wednesday.

Police said an overhang outside Treana's Little Castle Learning Center located at Chew Avenue and East Sharpnack Street fell at about 4 p.m.

A teenage relative of the daycare center owner was standing underneath the overhang when it came crashing down. She was rushed to Einstein Medical Center with a possible broken leg and back pain and is listed in good condition.

Authorities said no children or staff members were injured in the incident

Officials from the Department of Licenses and Inspections were at the scene Wednesday evening assessing the situation.

The cause of the collapse remains under investigation.
