Garrett Reid To Get A New Attorney
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) ―
The
24-year-old son of Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid will have a new attorney
for his next court appearance.
Tim Woodward will represent Garrett Reid when he is in
court next week.
Defense attorney Ross Weiss, who has been representing
Reid, believes it's in his client's best interest to have another attorney
handle the latest drug charges against the coach's son.
Woodward says he will not comment on the case until after
the preliminary hearing.
Prosecutors say Garrett Reid smuggled 89 pills into the Montgomery
County jail after failing a drug
test last week. He was sentenced two days later to two to 23 months in jail for
a previous DUI crash.
The change in attorneys also means the district attorney's
office and not the attorney general will prosecute the case. District Attorney Bruce Castor turned the
case over to the attorney general's office because of a potential conflict of
interest involving the firm representing Garrett and his brother, Britt.
