Garrett Reid Expected To Waive Formal Arraignment
NORRISTOWN (KYW 1060) ―
The eldest son of Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid was
expected to waive his formal arraignment in a Montgomery County
courtroom Thursday as his case on drug smuggling charges moves forward.
Garrett Reid remains behind bars on $50,000 bail
charged with smuggling nearly 90 pills into the county prison in late
October. He faces a two-year mandatory sentence on the contraband
charge, but defense attorney Tim Woodward is hopeful that he can work
out some type of resolution to the case without a lengthy sentence.
Prosecutors say Reid brought the pills into the prison inside a body
cavity just days before he was sentenced to two to 23 months in jail
for causing a car crash nearly a year ago while he was high on heroin.
He was supposed to be released Christmas Eve, but that was denied by
the judge who wasn't satisfied that an appropriate parole plan was in
place.
