Fit Kid Tumble Bus Rolls Kids Into Shape

Remember taking the bus to school, always being told to sit still and be quiet? Well, the rules have changed.

You could call it a mobile playground. Every week, the Fit Kids Tumble Bus rolls into a school or daycare parking lot and opens the door to a world of fitness and fun.

A stop on Thursday included a South Jersey daycare. Once the kids climb aboard, they're start a 30 minute circuit that includes a warm up routine, monkey bars, rings, and slide and a mountain climber.

They take things at their own pace. While some choose to sit back and observe, others really get into the swing of things and that is exactly what Sheila Rourke wanted when she decided to make it her part time job.

"I wanted to start my own business and that was it for me," Sheila Rourke said, "And I thought to myself I'm going to buy that bus."

After a makeover, it was off and rolling with more than just fun and games to offer it is a chance kids to learn a fitness routine that will last a lifetime.

"We just try to utilize all their different muscles and we emphasize how important physical fitness is. With obesity on the rise, it's so important these kids are getting some exercise," Sheila said.

Shelia always works with a partner and together she said they create a very positive environment.

"They want to use their muscles. They get so excited when you give them all of that encouragement, 'Good job,'" Sheila said.
